In the early part of 1980, the Rotary Club of Batangas, formerly under District 382 and now District 3820, designated PP Vicente “Ting” Cordero, Regional Chairman for Batangas and Oriental Mindoro, to form a new Rotary Club in Bauan. Considering that he was still young and a new Rotarian, the task assigned to him was undoubtedly a difficult job, but nonetheless, he accepted the challenge.
The municipality of Bauan is steadily progressing as an industrial and commercial community, together with the neighboring towns of San Pascual and Mabini. He saw the need of creating a special bond of fellowship among keymen of different companies, business and professional leaders. He envisioned that from a wholesome fellowship, will inevitably spring a fountain a gracious service.
Endowed with leadership skills and having effectively laid the framework of the plans and objectives of Rotary, PP Ting has successfully recruited several qualified prospective members from the cross section of the community of Bauan and San Pascual. Although enthusiastic in soliciting more members nevertheless, he adhered closely to the classification principle of section. Seriously, assisting him in his recruitment efforts, were Rotarians Patio Orosa, Braulio Garcia and Prisco “Little” Gloria, Simeon “Sim” Acuzar and Jose “Pepe” Contreras, who were members of RC Batangas.
The first Organizational Meeting was held Bauan High School which later on became the permanent venue of our weekly meetings, and club functions. In attendance, were members of the Rotary Club of Batangas headed by then Incumbent Sim Acuzar and newly recruited members among them, were Vicente “Vic” B. Magnaye, Polly Boongaling, Lando Dimayuga, Jimmy Bautista, Carding Contreras, Rudy Rivera, Henry Talag, Fred Ylagan, Boy Obispo, Romy Bacong, Poncing Lim, August Arada, June Palas and Johny Pulhin. Later Rotarians Ka Paito Orosa, Ka Braulio Garcia and Little Gloria transferred to the Rotary Club of Bauan.
Since the Charter Presentation and Induction of Incoming Officers and after a series of meeting and continuous solicitation of new members, the mandatory requirement of twenty (20) members was submitted for confirmation and chartering at the Charter office of Rotary International at Chicago, Illinois. PP Ting Cordero was chosen as Charter President and Vic B. Magnaye was appointed as Charter Secretary. The Charter of the Rotary Club of Bauan was approved in June 1981. Directors were so close to each other, these two historical and memorable events of the Rotary Club of Bauan were simultaneously held on August 20, 1981 at Banaba Club House, Caltex refinery, Batangas City. District Governor Pepot Barredo inducted by Policarpio “Polly Boongaling as its next president and Vic B. Magnaye as its Club Secretary. President Polly Held its First meeting on July 2,1980.
For the last several years, The Rotary Club of Bauan, has strengthened its membership. It has continued to live by the objectives of Rotary – the development of acquaintance and fellowship, foster closer ties among the business and professional and community leader, initiate community projects that improve the quality of life and health of our people, encourages high ethical standards in business and profession and the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace.
Presently, the club has 83 active members, 10 Honorary Members with 9 members as Past President; while 3 Past President from the club were appointed as District Officer for Area 2 Group 8 in different Rotary years where they served the Rotary beyond Club level.
